Love Parks Week celebrates our parks and green spaces, reminding us of the countless benefits they bring including supporting biodiversity, wellbeing and community cohesion. Research shows that trees and green spaces can also lower temperatures by up to 5°celsius.

Share the love with your local park or green space this month by taking part in a litter pick, organising your own or simply picking up a few bits as you pass by.

Why not visit Wharton Park (What3Words: ///gates.crab.rather)? Located near the viaduct, Durham City, the park has a community garden, greenspaces that are perfect for a picnic and a café and free toilets.

The park hosts a range of free events including Durham Brass Festival's Party in the Park, summer brass concerts and outdoor theatre.
