Who’s flying in this winter?

As the seasons change, keep your eyes on the skies, trees and green spaces around campus for some of our winter migrating species.

Redwing – Often spotted in large mixed flocks alongside Fieldfare. 
Fieldfare – Another winter visitor regularly seen flocking with Redwings. 
Waxwing – A brightly coloured visitor with a taste for berries, including rowan. 
Pink-footed Goose – Look up! You may spot flocks flying over campus. 
Brambling – Similar in appearance to a Chaffinch but a much rarer sight.

How many can you spot this winter? Keep an eye out on your walks around campus and see if you can tick off all five!
