Controlled Environment Chambers

We operate 48 controlled environment chambers in a variety of sizes, configurations, and lighting setups. All chambers provide precise control of temperature, light intensity, and photoperiod. Many of the chambers also have optional control over the relative humidity. The chambers support a broad range of experimental needs, including extreme environments and experiments requiring specialist lighting conditions.

Chamber specifications include:

  • Arctic Simulation Chambers: Ultra-low temperature chambers capable of reaching minus 20°C, combined with high light intensities to replicate Arctic summer conditions—ideal for studying cold tolerance and photosynthetic performance in extreme environments.

  • MLR-Style Upright Chambers: Versatile chambers designed for both soil-grown plants and in vitro tissue culture, offering reliable and flexible experimental setups.

  • Customisable Modular Growth Tents: Modular blackout tents with the ability to install custom-wavelength lighting, allowing researchers to explore the effects of specific light spectra on plant growth and development.
