Delphi

We are excited to share a news of a brand-new student experience opportunity for Durham University students! This academic year we will run our first departmental trip to Greece: a week-long tour of archaeological sites and museums, giving students the chance to encounter ancient Greek history right at the trowel’s edge.

We are proud to be ranked 9th in the world for Classics and Ancient History in the QS rankings, and what better way to enrich our curriculum than by enabling our students to walk in the footsteps of ancient people themselves.

The inaugural Greece trip is scheduled for July 2026. We know that our alumni hold a special place for Durham Classics and will want to support the next generation of students in this unforgettable experience, helping them to access the kinds of transformative opportunities that shaped so many of our own paths. We gratefully welcome any support from alumni and friends. If you feel moved to do so, please consider making a donation towards the trip here: remember to select ‘Classics’ from the support drop-down, and add a note in the comments box to say this is for ‘Greece trip 2026’.

Thank you for helping make Durham Classics a truly extraordinary place to study — and for opening doors to experiences our students will never forget. We look forward to sharing more details of our upcoming departmental trip soon!
