Post-offer Visit Day
Welcome to Department of Classics and Ancient History
Congratulations on receiving an offer to study with us! We very much hope that you will be able to attend one of the Visit Days for prospective students who are holding offers. In 2026, these will be held on 14th March and 25th April 2026.

What can you expect on your visit?
- An overview of the structure and content of the programmes offered by the Department of Classics and Ancient History.
- Two sample lectures delivered by current members of academic staff in the department.
- To meet and chat with current students to gain perspective into what it’s like to study in our department as an undergraduate.
- An opportunity to ask any questions you might have about our programmes.

How to find us?
The Department of Classics and Ancient History is located in a beautiful setting, consisting of four adjoining eighteenth-century buildings on the North Bailey, around the corner from the Cathedral. These buildings contain offices, a departmental library and a computer room, and rooms for small-group teaching. Larger teaching rooms are provided elsewhere in Durham, and our open day events will be held in one of these larger rooms, in a building a few steps away from the department.
