Held every October in Britain, Black History Month (BHM) was first introduced in London in 1987 through the Greater London Council, as a means for offering a sense of history, achievement and continuity within the Black community.

Black History Month Theme for 2024

This year's theme is "Reclaiming Narratives", which stresses a commitment to correcting historical inaccuracies and showcasing the untold success stories and the full complexity of Black heritage. Learn more about this year's theme here.
