Rod Taylor Futures

The Rod Taylor Futures' programme supports young people from the North East from low-income households to study Engineering at university.

By supporting young people from across the region, throughout their final years at school, the programme offers a pathway to study Engineering at Durham University. 

On commencing their degree course, students are also supported with a one-off financial scholarship, pastoral support and ongoing opportunities, such as internships.

Support for Sixth Form Students

The programme provides sixth form students with online-based engineering tutoring, mentoring, and guest lecture activtities which will prepare them for applications to Higher Education and life at university. 

Participants will be able to experience what it's like to be part of Durham University through regular contact with two of Durham's own undergraduate mentors from the Department of Engineering.

Additionally, lectures from world-leading academics and scholars from across the Faculty of Science and beyond will provide a fun, intellectually stimulating and interactive introduction to Durham University.

The Scholarship

The students who complete the Rod Taylor Futures programme will be awarded a guaranteed conditional offer to study engineering at Durham university*

Once at the university, these participants will be official 'Rod Taylor Futures Scholars' and will be awarded a one-off scholarship fund of £2000**

The Scholars will also have the opportunity to apply for designated internships throughout their time at Durham.

*This is subject to meeting the degree requirements of the course they apply for, and participants must demonstrate full engagement with the Rod Taylor Futures Programme.

**This scholarship is available for those who are not in receipt of a different university scholarship.
