A full scholarship is available for eligible applicants who need to meet the English language condition for their offer through a pre-sessional English course. This scholarship covers the full £3,540 course fee for the 6-week online Pre-Sessional English Language Course.

This intensive 6-week course helps applicants meet the English language requirements for their chosen postgraduate programme. For full details about the course content, visit the Durham Centre for Academic Development website. The Pre-Sessional English Language Course is available both online and in person in Durham. However, the scholarship applies only to the online course for the eligible programmes listed below.

No separate scholarship application is required. The scholarship is applied automatically to eligible offer holders who select the pre-sessional option in the Applicant Portal and meet the deposit condition. 

1. Log in to their Applicant Portal dashboard. If you do not see a pre-sessional option and you believe one should be available on your offer, please get in touch by opening an enquiry within your portal. 
2. Pay the programme deposit by 25 May 2026 via the Student Advanced Payments portal.
