The Anthropology in/of the North East Hub

The Anthropology in/of the North East Hub is a Durham University research network of anthropologists working in and on the North East of England. Trained in studying societies further afield, we have been or are currently involved in research in the region investigating various social, economic and political matters. These range from mobility and migration to local activism and people’s relations to the industrial past. Beyond understanding the former Durham coalfield and adjacent counties as post-mining areas, we aim to explore all the other fascinating issues people in the North East are concerned about and invested in. We are an open research network with links to other disciplines and universities and are particularly keen to collaborate with groups and people from the region.
