Student Life

We want to ensure that you get the most from your studies and provide several types of support:

Academic Advisor

Every student is assigned an Academic advisor who will normally remain with you throughout your course and be your first point of contact for any academic issues you may have.

Director of Undergraduate Studies

Deals with all matters of students' academic progress. They are there to provide a range of support, guidance and signposting.

Blackboard Learn Ultra (BLU)

Our virtual learning environment where staff post information such as lecture material to support your studies, important course announcements, quizzes and reading lists. Academics may also support their teaching with podcasts, blogs, wikis and discussion boards.

Durham University Chemistry Society (DUCS)

In addition to all this, there is an active student chemistry society which arranges a lecture programme, external visits and social events. The lectures feature a wide variety of speakers from industry and academia which range from spectacular lecture demonstrations to accounts of the role of chemistry in the arts or in forensic science.
