Amir Ghasemi, the second-year PhD student of the department of engineering has been awarded the Young Scientist Award at the 16th International Congress on Artificial Materials for Novel Wave Phenomena – Metamaterials 2022 held in Italy.

Metamaterials conference is the largest events in this field, bringing together the engineering, physics, applied mathematics, and material science communities working on different aspect of Metamaterials. This year's conference showcased over 360 scientific abstracts from 30 countries. The scientific committee of the conference recognised Amir for his notable and outstanding contribution to the field of flexible metamaterials. Amir is doing his research under the supervision of Dr Mehdi Keshavarz Hedayati and Prof Dagou Zeze. His project is funded by Durham University under the Durham Doctoral Studentships (DDS) scheme.
