Nancy Cartwright interviewed

Congratulations to Nancy Cartwright for winning the BBVA Foundation 2026 Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the Humanities category for her contributions to the philosophy of science.

Throughout her career Nancy Cartwright has collaborated with scientists and social science researchers, working with questions such as causality, objectivity and evidence. 

The BBVA Foundation working with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) promotes world-class scientific research and cultural creation, and its transmission to society. The BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards are awarded in eight categories: basic sciences, biomedicine, environmental sciences, climate change, social sciences, economics, humanities, and music. Each award is 400,000 euros.
