Become a Visiting Scholar

We welcome applications from scholars who would like to undertake a period of research within the School of Education.

As we receive a high number of applications each year, we are not able to accommodate everyone who applies. Applications are considered by the School’s Research Committee, taking into account:

• the nature and quality of the proposed research
• anticipated research outputs
• the proposed duration of the visit
• the applicant’s academic experience
• the contribution the visit would make to the School’s research environment.

Applicants are expected to be affiliated with a university, research institute or government organisation in their home country.

Please note: the Visiting Scholars Programme is not available to PhD researchers. If you are currently a postgraduate research student, please see our information for Visiting Research Students.

How to apply

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, and we aim to provide a decision within six to eight weeks of receiving a complete application. We strongly recommend applying well in advance of your proposed visit.
