The Department runs a number of Group Seminars and Colloquia along with numerous specialised research seminars, journal clubs, reading groups and student seminars. We also hold annual events, including our Collingwood, Pascal and Distinguished Lectures and talks marking International Women's Day and Black History Month.

The schedule during term time for our regular Group Seminars (one for each of our Research Groups) and Colloquia is:

In addition, Department Research Colloquia are held once or twice a year in MCS0001 providing an opportunity for members of the Department to introduce their research to everyone here in Durham.

The annual Blaise Pascal Lecture series has been established following a generous bequest by Mrs Marjorie Roberts in 2006.
