One of the best things about Durham's collegiate system is the number of opportunities to get involved. As well as the University-level activities that you would get at any university, at Durham you also have College-level activities. This is where Trevelyan excels.
Trevelyan has a broad range of social and academic events across the year, from our dissertation open mic nights to our gowned formal dinners. We also have some exceptional annual events, including Live on the Hill, our black-tie jazz night, and Trevstock, our 12-hour music festival.
Trevelyan boat club had an excellent first regatta of the season.
Our men's 2nd 8 won their band 2 category. Our women's 8 made it to the final of their category and one of our 2 men's 4s also won their band 2 category.
It was a fantastic day of racing with 14 of our 27 rowers coming home with medals. Really rewarding to see all of our hard work this term finally paying off.”
Your time at University will be exciting and rewarding, but it will also have its challenges. We recognise that many of our students will need support during their time at University.
Trevelyan strives to produce future-ready graduates. Personal development activities are key to this, helping our students to develop their soft skills.
Trev's Day, an annual event at Trevelyan. A day filled with music, food and socialising as the academic year has drawn to a close.
Live on the Hill, an annual music event at Trevelyan.
Trevs has an excellent sporting reputation. We also have every sporting activity you could want, from football to Frisbee. This is in part due to our great facilities - we have an indoor sports hall, an outdoor all-weather sports court, and a newly renovated gym on site. Many of our bigger sports clubs have multiple teams, from the As through to the Cs and Ds. This means that you have the opportunity to play at any level, whether you are a competitive or a social player. Most importantly, at Trevs we like to celebrate our achievements. That's why we hold an annual sportsperson's dinner where we give out awards to our best (and sometimes worst) sports players.
Trevs also excels in music and theatre. We have a 60-seat theatre, a soundproof recording room with professional equipment, and multiple music practice rooms. We also have a broad range of musical and theatrical groups, from chamber choirs and orchestras to musical societies and a capella groups. We come together to celebrate these achievements annually at our Musicians Dinner, a chance for all the musically inclined in the college to get together and enjoy a three-course dinner and some excellent musical entertainment.
Trevelyan is a community-minded place. We have an elected Outreach Officer and a Charities Officer who coordinate volunteering opportunities and charitable endeavours. These range from food drives to teaching musical instruments to local children, so there is something for everyone.
In short, there really is something for everyone at Trevelyan!
