Congratulations on earning your place at Durham University and Trevelyan College! This is a remarkable achievement, and you should be incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished to reach this point.
Now, let me tell you about the extraordinary community you are about to join.
At Trevelyan, you'll become part of a vibrant, welcoming, and ambitious college family that encourages you to challenge yourself, embrace new opportunities, and make the most of every moment. Trevelyan (Trevs) College is a place where friendships flourish, talents are discovered, and confidence grows. Whether your passion lies in sports, the arts, volunteering, leadership, academic pursuits, or something entirely new, you'll find countless ways to get involved and make your mark.
We believe university is about so much more than earning a degree. It's about discovering who you are, developing skills that will last a lifetime, and creating memories you'll carry with you long after graduation. At Trevs, you'll be supported every step of the way as you explore new interests, pursue your ambitions, and achieve more than you ever thought possible.
I encourage you to throw yourself into college life, meet new people, seize opportunities, and embrace every experience that comes your way. The friendships you build, the challenges you overcome, and the successes you celebrate will become some of the most rewarding parts of your university journey. I am genuinely excited to see all that you will achieve. Most importantly, remember that you are not simply joining a college; you are becoming part of the Trevs family. Each of you brings unique perspectives, talents, and experiences that will enrich our community and help shape the future of Trevelyan.
I am delighted to welcome you to Trevelyan this September. When you arrive, you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet our staff and discover all that college life has to offer. Hi everyone, I’m Max, the MCR president this year, which means that I represent postgrad students at Trevelyan. Whether you are continuing at Durham following undergrad studies, or are new to the university, the MCR is a group which supports students through academic and extracurricular events. We have lots planned for welcome week, which is the perfect time to meet fellow postgrad students. Throughout the year we will host events including a big inter-MCR formal, research events, trips around the local area, and much more. The MCR remains active throughout the year with regular social events. I encourage everyone to get involved and to make the most of the opportunities available.
Trevelyan is a small, progressive college renowned for its friendliness - and its distinctive hexagonal architecture. Trevelyan encourages every student to venture out of their comfort zone and be the best they can be, promoting an environment of support, inclusion, and curiosity.
We will be sending you important information via email which will help you prepare for your arrival over the coming weeks.

Get ready for university life, this guide is to help you prepare for your first few weeks, meet fellow freshers and find your way around.
One of the best things about Durham's collegiate system is the number of opportunities to get involved with. As well as the University-level activities that you would get at any university, at Durham you also have College-level activities. This is where Trevelyan excels.
The Timetable has been designed so College events don’t clash with any of your academic departmental events, but offer you lots of opportunities to meet your fellow Freshers, find your way around and settle into student life.
