PGR Research Day 2026 panel discussion

Postgraduate researchers from across the Department of Mathematical Sciences came together on 12 May 2026 for this year’s PGR Research Day, an event celebrating the wide-ranging research being carried out by doctoral students in the department.

The day featured 19 presentations spanning a broad range of topics across pure and applied mathematics, showcasing the depth and diversity of postgraduate research within the department. The programme offered students an opportunity to present their work to peers, exchange ideas, and learn more about research taking place across different groups.

Alongside the talks, a panel discussion gave attendees the chance to hear reflections on PhD study and subsequent careers in academia and beyond, offering valuable insight into a range of professional pathways.

The event concluded with a social session, adding an interactive and informal element to the day and helping to foster connections across the postgraduate community. Overall, the PGR Research Day provided a valuable opportunity for researchers to share their work, engage in discussion, and celebrate the department’s vibrant research culture.
